COMET's NPOESS/GOES-R Training Resources Development Workshop

Welcome to the NPOESS/GOES-R Training Resources Development Workshop Home Page! This workshop is designed primarily to evaluate effectiveness of current GOES/POES satellite training efforts and explore opportunities to leverage related training needs. It will look into identifying common training initiatives that address multiple constituencies’ needs that training leaders in cooperation with the IPO & SPD can use for guidance in planning future learning materials. This year's workshop will focus on user training needs and include an afternoon session on satellite relevant activities in UCAR, including COSMIC.

NPOESS/GOES-R Workshop Goals:

Provide participants with insight into current status of the NPOESS program
Provide participants with insight into current status of the GOES-R program
Refine the training requirements for the polar-orbiting and geostationary satellite user community that can be satisfied by COMET resources (capture inputs and get participant concurrence)
Provide user input on current version of ESRC
Create strategic curriculum plan for FY10 and beyond
Identify potential subject matter experts willing to either contribute to content development or assist in the review process
Expand opportunities for international collaboration in geostationary and polar-orbiting curriculum planning
Identify existing resources and development efforts that can be effectively leveraged by COMET to enhance the value of NPOESS Userport and the ESRC to the user community

An additional note: A registration fee of $75.00 to cover the cost of food and miscellaneous items provided by COMET will be collected on the first day of the Workshop. Please be prepared to pay this registration fee in cash or with a check made out to UCAR.
